Celtic's Johnston Returns to Training, Araujo's Season Possibly Over
After a lengthy absence, Alistair Johnston has resumed training with Celtic, while Julian Araujo's season may be over due to a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury. Johnston, who has been sidelined since October with a hamstring issue, rejoined his teammates at the Lennoxtown training complex ahead of the upcoming Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren. Meanwhile, Araujo, who is on loan from Bournemouth, has experienced a complication in his recovery, which may prevent him from playing for Celtic again this season. Celtic manager Martin O'Neill expressed optimism about Johnston's progress, stating, 'He trained with the team today, which was very encouraging... If he comes through today, a little bit of work that he did with the team and also the work he did on his own with the recuperative team, then next week would be hopefully a good week's training for him.' O'Neill also confirmed that right-back Colby Donovan will miss the upcoming match due to a hamstring injury and may also be sidelined for the Scottish Cup tie against the Saints. The Celtic manager welcomed the return of the Green Brigade, the team's ultras group, after a five-month ban was lifted, saying, 'The support is very strong, it's great... The safety regulations have been sorted and that would give us a boost, absolutely.' With regards to the title race, O'Neill acknowledged that Hearts' current position at the top of the table is advantageous, but emphasized that the outcome is still uncertain.
