Billam-Smith Sets Sights on Opetaia After Joining Zuffa Boxing
Following his signing with Zuffa Boxing, Chris Billam-Smith has expressed his desire to face Jai Opetaia, aiming to demonstrate his status as the world's best boxer. Billam-Smith, a former WBO cruiserweight world champion, will now compete live on Sky Sports. After losing his title to Gilberto Ramirez, he bounced back with a win over Brandon Glanton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Opetaia, also a Zuffa fighter, recently became the inaugural Zuffa world cruiserweight champion with a unanimous decision victory over Glanton. Billam-Smith stated, 'We're two of the biggest names in the cruiserweight division, and we're both signed under the same promoter.' He added that his deal with Zuffa will help him prove his superiority by defeating the best opponents, with Opetaia being a primary target. Billam-Smith has been in training since January and is eager to announce his next fight soon, preferably in the UK. He expressed his desire to return to the ring, saying, 'I want to get back out, I've been out for a year now.'
