Maguire Handed Additional One-Game Suspension, to Miss Chelsea Match

Manchester United's Harry Maguire has received an additional one-match ban for misconduct, resulting in his absence from the team's upcoming trip to Chelsea. An independent regulatory commission imposed the ban on April 1, citing Maguire's improper behavior towards fourth official Matt Donohue after his red card against Bournemouth on March 20. Maguire had reacted to being sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity by pushing Evanilson, and later swore at Donohue as he left the field. The England international admitted to the offense and was fined £30,000. He will now miss the match against Chelsea, in addition to the 2-1 defeat to Leeds that he missed while serving his initial suspension. The FA's written statement revealed that Donohue claimed Maguire insulted him, while Maguire claimed he only said 'it is a joke.' With Lisandro Martinez also suspended, Manchester United's center-back options are limited, with Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven being the only natural center-backs available. Luke Shaw or young Godwill Kukonki could be potential alternatives for the match against Chelsea.
