Riakporhe Aims to Strike Fear in the Heavyweight Division
Richard Riakporhe is set to compete in his third heavyweight bout as he challenges Jeamie TKV for the British title on Saturday. The London-born fighters will face off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the undercard of the highly anticipated Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov fight. Following his loss to Chris Billam-Smith in the WBO cruiserweight title challenge, Riakporhe transitioned to the heavyweight division and has since secured knockout victories over Kevin Nicolas Espindola and Tommy Welch. He now seeks to claim his first title in the division. Riakporhe is determined to put on a dominating performance against TKV, stating, "I am a serious player in the heavyweight division, and those who doubt me are mistaken." He warned that his opponents will soon come to realize his formidable presence in the division, earning him the nickname "Midnight Train" for being a force to be reckoned with. However, TKV's aggressive fighting style could pose a challenge for Riakporhe. The challenger cautioned that his opponent's strategy may leave him vulnerable to a decisive blow, saying, "It only takes one misstep or miscalculation to change the course of the fight." TKV, on the other hand, expressed his intention to dominate the fight in all aspects, asserting, "I hurt people, and my goal is to retain the British heavyweight title." Riakporhe hopes that a win will propel him into world title contention, citing the rich history of British heavyweight title fights as a catalyst for greatness. With several top fighters nearing the end of their careers, he anticipates a surge of new talent vying for world championships, saying, "Don't be surprised to see us competing for the world titles soon."
