Sinner Achieves 20th Consecutive Masters 1000 Victory, Alcaraz Advances to Semifinals

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has added another impressive feat to his resume with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Felix Auger-Aliassime, becoming the fourth player to achieve 20 consecutive Masters 1000 match wins. He joins an elite group consisting of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. Following a brief setback in the fourth round against Tomas Machac, which ended his 37-set winning streak, Sinner rebounded with a strong performance to defeat the Canadian in straight sets and secure his spot in the semifinals. Sinner is also gaining momentum in his pursuit to reclaim the world No. 1 spot, which he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in November last year. Alcaraz has been holding onto the top position since then. When asked about his progress compared to his previous match, Sinner stated, "I feel like I took a step forward today. It was a very tough match, and I knew I had to improve in certain areas. Although my serve is not yet where I want it to be, I'm very happy considering everything." Sinner will face Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, who fought hard to overcome Brazil's Joao Fonseca with a 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3 victory. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz also secured his place in the semifinals with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win over Alexander Bublik. Alcaraz dropped just three games and is now looking to defend his position against Sinner in the world rankings. This was the first official tournament match between Alcaraz and Bublik, with the Spaniard showcasing his skills and boosting his confidence. Alcaraz reflected on the match, saying, "I started well, but then lost my rhythm a bit. However, I managed to regain my footing and played a solid, aggressive game against an unpredictable opponent. I'm pleased to have made it to the semifinals." He will face local favorite Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals, who saved 13 break points before defeating Alex de Minaur 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in front of a lively crowd. Vacherot became the first player from Monaco to reach the last four at Monte Carlo. Vacherot expressed his excitement, stating, "It's an honor to be part of the semifinals alongside the top players of the past few years. I'm eager to play against Carlos in my hometown; it's an incredible opportunity. The crowd's support means a lot to me, as they're my friends from childhood. I feel fortunate to have a tournament in my club." Vacherot is expected to break into the top 20 when the ATP rankings are updated on Monday. Alcaraz was impressed by the 27-year-old's rise to prominence.
