Mercedes Enhancing Race Starts with Intensive Behind-the-Scenes Efforts

According to George Russell, the Mercedes team is diligently working to improve their race starts, a crucial area of focus ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 season in Miami. Despite achieving four front-row lockouts in the initial three Grands Prix and Sprint, neither Russell nor his teammate has managed to secure the lead after the first lap. The team's inability to start strongly has been their most significant weakness, but they have demonstrated sufficient pace to bounce back and win the first three races. Ferrari, on the other hand, has excelled in starts this season, thanks to their compact turbo, which enables quicker spin-up times and facilitates finding the ideal launch window. Although drivers have limited opportunities to practice starts during Grand Prix weekends, Russell emphasized that the team is thoroughly analyzing data to address their sole significant flaw. In an interview with Sky Germany during Pirelli tire testing in Germany, Russell highlighted the extensive work being done behind the scenes, including numerous simulator sessions and data analysis to enhance their performance.
