Gary Player Offers Support to Tiger Woods, Urges Caution Behind the Wheel

Golf legends Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus have expressed their support for Tiger Woods, who is currently absent from the Masters due to health issues. Woods has been dealing with the aftermath of a car crash and is seeking treatment. Player sympathized with Woods' chronic pain but emphasized the importance of not driving while taking medication. 'If I or anyone in this room had to endure the pain Tiger Woods has been experiencing, we would understand his need for relief,' Player stated. 'However, I strongly advise against driving while on medication, as it poses a significant risk. A simple solution would be to hire a chauffeur, as I have done, to ensure safety on the road.' Nicklaus also offered words of encouragement, saying, 'Golf needs Tiger, and we would love to have him back. I hope he can get the help he needs and return to the game.' Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley expressed support for Woods' decision to prioritize his health and well-being, stating, 'Our commitment to Tiger and the TGR Foundation remains unwavering. We wish him all the best.' Woods has only participated in 11 official tournaments since November 2020 and last competed at The Open in July 2024.
