Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year, defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but then lost her own serve twice in a row. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the next service game to take the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, before serving out a 6-4, 6-1 win in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova, meanwhile, has reached her first final since winning the title on her debut three years ago, after overcoming Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the other semi-final. Potapova took an early 4-1 lead over Vekic, but the Croatian fought back, only for Potapova to hold on and take the first set. She continued to dictate the pace in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This will be Potapova's first final since representing Russia, before switching to Austria in December 2025. The final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they are yet to play each other on clay.
