Benn Sets Sights on Garcia for World Title Showdown

Following his hard-fought victory over Regis Prograis on Saturday, Conor Benn has made it clear that he is eager to face WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia in his next bout. Despite being forced to work hard for the win due to several head clashes that resulted in cuts on his eye, Benn quickly shifted his focus to Garcia after the fight. In a social media video, Benn called out Garcia, saying 'Garcia, I want my belt! Keep my belt warm' and proposing a September showdown. Garcia, who won the WBC welterweight title in February, responded positively to the challenge, saying 'I'm down. Garcia vs Benn. Let's do it.' Benn's victory over Prograis, which improved his fight record to 25-1, was at a catchweight of 3lb above the welterweight limit. Benn has primarily fought at welterweight throughout his career, with his only professional loss coming against Chris Eubank Jr at 160lb, a defeat he avenged last year. Prograis pushed Benn to his limits on Saturday, but Benn's superior speed and energy ultimately earned him a comfortable points victory. Benn stated, 'It was a great fight. Tough, durable, experience. I had to weather some storms but we are good.' He also expressed his readiness to move down to 147lb to face Garcia, saying 'My first fight back at 150 for three years and now I'm ready to move down to 147 to get Ryan Garcia.'
