Rangers Stun Falkirk with Nine-Goal Thriller to Keep Pressure on Hearts

In an electrifying display, Rangers staged an extraordinary comeback against Falkirk, securing a crucial win to remain in contention for the Scottish Premiership title with just five games left to play. The day began on a sour note for Danny Röhl's team, who found themselves in third place following victories by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday. Matters seemed to worsen when Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats handed Falkirk a 2-0 lead. However, Tochi Chukwanui's goal before the break sparked a turnaround. A blistering second-half performance saw Rangers surge ahead 3-2, courtesy of goals from Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin. Bojan Miovski added a fourth, only for Falkirk's Calvin Miller to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah. Undeterred, Rangers reaffirmed their title aspirations as Miovski and Chermiti each scored again, putting the game beyond Falkirk's reach. This result propels Rangers back into second place, just a point behind leaders Hearts, with Celtic trailing by a further two points. The top three teams in the Premiership had not all won on the same weekend since earlier in the season, a record Rangers were keen to preserve. Chukwuani's contentious goal just before half-time ignited the incredible comeback. Initially, it seemed the home team had stopped playing in anticipation of a goal kick after Raskin's cross sailed over the goalmouth, only for the ball to find its way to Djeidi Gassama, whose header ricocheted off the post before Chukwuani converted the rebound. Röhl's tactical substitution of Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at the break proved pivotal. Gassama, shifted to the left, won the ball on the edge of the Falkirk box, and his low cross was flicked home by Chermiti. Rangers' increased threat paid off as they took the lead in the 52nd minute, with Raskin scoring after receiving a pass from Aasgaard. Chermiti missed another opportunity before Raskin set up Miovski to bundle home a cross from the left. Falkirk were given a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller scored from the spot after Tavernier brought down Lissah. Nonetheless, Rangers restored their two-goal advantage, with Raskin instrumental in Chermiti's goal after Gassama's shot was blocked. The Belgian midfielder was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait. Miovski sealed the scoring two minutes from time, converting Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Rangers head coach Danny Röhl reflected on the game, 'Our start was not ideal, but the reaction from the team was outstanding. We focused on our job, and it's easier to go into the break with a win. The spirit is great, and the connection between the supporters and the team is evident.' Röhl also drew parallels with his situation four or five months ago in Falkirk, highlighting the club's direction and the importance of believing in what the supporters have to say.
