Aston Martin's Struggles to Continue Throughout the Season

According to Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle, Aston Martin's dismal performance at the start of the 2026 season is not expected to improve significantly anytime soon. The team has faced significant challenges despite the promising partnership with design expert Adrian Newey and Honda as their new engine supplier. With their inability to score points in the first three races, Aston Martin, along with newcomer Cadillac, has struggled to keep up with the rest of the field. Their best finish was Fernando Alonso's 18th place in Japan, highlighting the team's current difficulties. Brundle emphasized that the team's problems are multifaceted, with issues in both speed and reliability, making it challenging to recover in a season with a tight schedule and cost caps. He believes that resolving these issues will take time, possibly until 2027. Meanwhile, Aston Martin and Honda are working to address the engine vibrations that have limited the drivers' mileage and are focusing on developing their package, including the AMR26 chassis. The team is also expecting to benefit from catch-up upgrade opportunities under the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities rules for 2026.
