Evan Williams Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Assault on Dog Walker

Evan Williams, a 55-year-old horse trainer, has been sentenced to three years in prison for attacking a 72-year-old dog walker on his property. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, at Williams' land in Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales, where the victim, Martin Dandridge, suffered a fractured arm and other injuries after being repeatedly struck with a hockey stick. Despite denying the charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, Williams was found guilty by a unanimous jury verdict following a trial at Cardiff Crown Court in March. During sentencing, Recorder Angharad Price condemned Williams' actions, stating that he had made a choice to confront the victim instead of waiting for police to arrive. The judge noted that while Williams had previously experienced a threatening incident with poachers on his land, it was never acceptable to take the law into his own hands. Williams, a renowned horse trainer with multiple Grade One wins, including successes at the Cheltenham Festival, will now serve a three-year prison term.
