This week, Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle will be in action at Newmarket's Craven meeting, with a notable ride on the promising Derby hopeful Wareeth in the Listed Feilden Stakes. On Wednesday, Doyle's standout ride will be Wareeth, trained by her boss Archie Watson, as he takes on his first major test in the Listed Feilden Stakes.
The extra distance will suit the son of Sea The Stars, who impressed with a 14-length victory in his novice race over 1m at Newcastle last month. Although Wareeth doesn't currently hold a Derby entry, his performance since his racecourse debut has been delightful. After sitting on him last week, Doyle felt he was in good form, but his true potential will be revealed after this second start.
Aidan O'Brien's Isaac Newton has an experience edge, having won his maiden at Goodwood and finished fourth in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud. With a Derby entry and an official rating of 106, he sets the standard. Godolphin's Poseidon's Warrior also makes the leap from novice company and is entered in the Classic.
All three colts are set to compete in the traditional Derby trial, the Group 2 Dante at York next month. Doyle is expecting a strong run from Heather Main's sprinter Zoulu Chief in the Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap on Wednesday.
Having been busy on the All-Weather over the winter, winning at Wolverhampton and giving a good battle at Lingfield Park, Zoulu Chief is approaching his prime as a five-year-old. Doyle has ridden work on Jane Chapple-Hyam's outsider Harlequin Breeze and believes she is worth her place in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes on Wednesday.
Despite being a maiden after three starts, Harlequin Breeze has improved with every run and impressed Doyle with her determination. Impossible Mission needs to prove his ability on turf, receiving weight from all his rivals in the National Stud Handicap on Wednesday. John Butler's three-year-old made a winning handicap debut under Neil Callan at Wolverhampton and should have come on for his reappearance. Des Donovan's debutant Lady Fizz will gain experience in the Molson Coors British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, taking on fillies from powerful yards over 1m.
Doyle is looking forward to riding Marco Botti's Shergar Cup winner Prince Of India in the Zyn Abernant Stakes on Thursday. It will be her first time riding him on the track, but she liked him when she sat on him on the gallops last year.
Prince Of India is a powerfully built colt who could be a force in stakes sprints this summer. Doyle is expecting big things from Hawk Mountain, who makes his return in the Group 3 Betway Craven Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
Aidan O'Brien's son of Wootton Bassett is already a Group 1 winner and can strengthen his Derby claims. Another favourite of Doyle's is Karl Burke's Boiling Point, who returns to turf in the Group 3 Betway Earl Of Sefton Stakes on Wednesday.
The Cambridgeshire winner probably needed the outing in a steadily run Winter Derby, but with that run under his belt, he can establish himself as a genuine Pattern performer this season.
