Littler Shrugs Off Hostile Crowd to Showcase His Confidence

Luke Littler remained unfazed by the hostile reception from the Rotterdam crowd during the 11th night of the Premier League Darts, stating it was "exactly what I expected". Littler, who was booed throughout his three matches as he reached the final, had been at the center of controversy since his spat with Dutch No 1 Gian van Veen in Manchester. Van Veen had won a contentious match, criticizing Littler for his behavior after the Dutchman turned towards him while throwing match darts. Littler eventually lost to Premier League leader Jonny Clayton in the final. Despite anticipating the negative reaction, Littler said he was focused on doing his job once on stage. Ahead of his first match against Gerwyn Price, Littler had vowed not to react to the crowd's taunts but couldn't resist responding in his semi-final clash with Luke Humphries. When he leveled the match at 2-2, Littler gestured to the crowd to 'calm down' before adding some flamboyant flourishes with his darts in the next leg. Sky Sports' Wayne Mardle noted that Littler's swagger made him hard to deal with, saying, "He's giving it the full repertoire. I like it!" Littler defeated Price 6-3 and edged out Humphries 6-5 before losing to Clayton 6-4 in the final. Clayton's win extended his lead over Littler to five points at the top of the table, with Clayton praising Littler, saying, "I've got total respect for Luke. He's absolutely amazing." Sky Sports' Glen Durrant also commended Littler for his mental toughness in dealing with the hostile crowd.
