Howe Reaffirms Commitment to Newcastle Amid Speculation Over His Future

Eddie Howe has reaffirmed his dedication to Newcastle United, following comments from the club's chief executive, David Hopkinson, that sparked uncertainty about his future. With the team set to face Crystal Palace on Sunday, Howe emphasized that his commitment to the club remains unwavering. "Nothing has changed for me. I'm 100 per cent committed to the job," he stated. Newcastle is seeking to bounce back from consecutive defeats to Barcelona and Sunderland before the international break. Howe has been working during the break to strengthen the team and is focused on the remaining seven Premier League games. When asked about seeking assurances regarding his future, Howe replied, "I don't need assurances from anybody. I've got to do my work and ensure the team is successful." He also highlighted the importance of his relationship with Hopkinson and sporting director Ross Wilson, saying, "We're all aligned on what we need to do, and I've had really good support from both of them." Howe emphasized that the club's interests are his top priority, saying, "The most important thing in all of this is Newcastle United, not me, not anybody else. I'll always put the club before anybody." Regarding the possibility of selling key players in the summer, Howe noted that managing expectations would be crucial if the team fails to qualify for Europe. "If that's the reality, then that's the reality. I've no issue working with the conditions the club sets and finances dictate," he said. Howe believes Newcastle's long-term prospects are strong, but the club must be "smart" in the next transfer window to improve.
