Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse in the opening service game, but then experienced a dip in form as she suffered consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, she regained her composure and broke Ruse to love in the eighth game, before claiming the set 6-4. The world number ten then dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games to secure a 6-4, 6-1 victory in just over an hour. Anastasia Potapova will be Andreeva's opponent in the final, having overcome Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in her semi-final match. Potapova took an early lead, but Vekic fought back before the Russian regained control to take the first set. She then built a 4-0 lead in the second set and went on to claim her first win over Vekic in their last three encounters. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut victory three years ago. The pair have met three times before, with Andreeva winning their last two matches, but this will be their first meeting on clay.
