Lara Antipova, trained by Tom Clover, performed well on her debut at Wetherby and then finished second at Wolverhampton in February, pulling clear of the third and is likely to be a strong contender in this similar event. Lahan Kingman finished third to Guineas hopeful Touleen on her first start at Newbury and then ran credibly when second at Wolverhampton last time, and she should step forward from that effort, having shown signs of inexperience once again. Andrew Balding's Leonie is another shortlist candidate, Cosmic makes her debut for Richard Hannon, and Stolen completes the field. For fans of jumps racing, Newton Abbot hosts a six-race card, with the Visit Kauto The King 6th May Handicap Chase headlining, featuring recent winners Soldierofthestorm and Tapley. Jonjo O'Neill Jr's Soldierofthestorm broke his fencing duck when justifying favoritism at Sandown last month and, having jumped superbly, he rates as the one to beat under this 5lb higher mark. Tapley appears to be the main danger for the Suzy Smith team, having built on a couple of placed efforts to secure a second fencing success at Stratford, and warrants respect under Isabelle Ryder. Sheldon is worth a second look after his solid second at Newbury but is without a win for over two years.
