Mercedes Working to Improve Race Starts Ahead of Miami Grand Prix

George Russell reveals that Mercedes is diligently working to enhance their race starts, a notable weakness despite their strong performance this season. With four front row lockouts in three Grands Prix and a Sprint, neither Russell nor teammate Kimi Antonelli has taken the lead after the opening lap. However, the team's pace has allowed them to recover and secure victories. Ferrari has excelled in starts due to their compact turbo, which enables quicker spin-up times and easier launches. Although practice opportunities for starts are limited, Russell emphasizes that the team is focused on analyzing data to address this flaw. Speaking during Pirelli tire testing in Germany, Russell noted that while fans may not see the extensive work being done, the team is dedicated to improvement, leveraging simulator days and data analysis to refine their strategy ahead of the upcoming Miami and Montreal Sprint races.
