Benn Sets Sights on Garcia for World Title Shot

Following his unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis, Conor Benn has expressed his eagerness to face WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia. Benn's win, which came after a grueling fight that saw several head clashes and cuts above his eye, marked his first bout of the year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In a video posted on social media, Benn called out Garcia, saying, 'Garcia, I want my belt! I want my belt. Keep my belt warm... September. Let's go. Any day of the week. Twice on Sundays. 10 rounds, easy. Garcia, you're next. Keep my belt warm.' Garcia, who won the WBC welterweight world title in February, responded by saying, 'I'm down. Garcia vs Benn. Let's do it.' Benn's victory over Prograis, which moves his fight record to 25-1, was at a catchweight 3lb above the welterweight limit. Benn has primarily fought at welterweight, with his only professional loss coming against Chris Eubank Jr at 160lb, before winning the rematch last year. Prograis pushed Benn hard, but the latter's superior speed and energy earned him a comfortable points victory. Benn stated, 'It was a great fight. Tough, durable, experience. I had to weather some storms but we are good... My first fight back at 150 for three years and now I'm ready to move down to 147 to get Ryan Garcia.'
