Hull FC Exit Leaves Cartwright Feeling Betrayed

Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright expressed feelings of betrayal and disrespect following his unexpected exit from the club. The announcement of his departure was made by Hull FC on April 7, stating that Cartwright would be leaving at the end of the current Betfred Super League season. Cartwright, who was taken aback by the decision, revealed that he still has not received an explanation for his termination. "I was told that the club had decided to part ways with me at the end of my contract and that a six-month termination clause would be exercised," he said. Cartwright had been at the helm of the MKM Stadium since the beginning of the 2025 campaign, guiding the team to a seventh-place finish, their highest since 2020. Despite the current ninth-place standing in the Super League, Cartwright vowed to continue performing his duties without compromising the team's interests. "My commitment to the players remains unwavering, and that bond cannot be broken," he added. The search for a new coach has already begun, with the club aiming to appoint a replacement for the 2027 season.
