Carlos Alcaraz has pulled out of the Barcelona Open due to a wrist injury. The Spanish tennis player was set to face Tomas Machac in the second round but decided to withdraw after undergoing a test on his wrist. Alcaraz, who won his opening match against Otto Virtanen, experienced wrist pain during the game and initially thought it was just discomfort from the effort of the entire week. However, the injury turned out to be more serious than expected. Alcaraz expressed his disappointment, stating that he has to listen to his body and prioritize his health to avoid further harm. He will now focus on recovery with his team and hopes to return to the tennis court as soon as possible. Meanwhile, British No 1 Cameron Norrie booked his place in the quarter-finals in Barcelona, while Katie Boulter and Iga Swiatek also progressed to the last eight in their respective tournaments. Novak Djokovic has announced his return to action at the Mutua Madrid Open, which will be live on Sky Sports Tennis from April 21 to May 3.
