Garnacho Reflects on Manchester United Departure, Admits Mistakes

Alejandro Garnacho has spoken out about his departure from Manchester United, acknowledging that he made some mistakes during his final six months at the club. Garnacho joined Chelsea in a £40m deal last summer after being left out of Ruben Amorim's first-team squad during pre-season. Prior to his departure, Garnacho sparked controversy by wearing an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford's name on the back. Garnacho's brother had also claimed that the Argentine was "thrown under the bus" by Amorim following United's Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. Garnacho expressed some regret over his exit, stating, "Maybe yes, because I loved that club. They gave me the confidence from the start." He added that he started to make mistakes and do "bad things" in his final six months at the club, but is now proud to be at Chelsea and competing in the Premier League. Amorim has also spoken about Garnacho's departure, saying, "You can understand and you can see he's a really talented boy, and sometimes things don't work out." The Manchester United manager situation has also been discussed, with Michael Carrick emerging as a potential candidate to take the job. Carrick has been in charge of the team since January and has led them to seven wins in 10 games, making a top-five finish and Champions League qualification more likely. Carrick has spoken about the pressure of being Manchester United manager, but seems to be handling it well, saying, "The pressure is something I have lived with for a long time. What's expected here, how to go about achieving things, the amount of support we have, and the scrutiny is something that becomes normal after a while."
