Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle will be in action at Newmarket's Craven meeting, with a key ride on Derby prospect Wareeth in the Listed Feilden Stakes. This week, Wareeth, trained by Archie Watson, will take on the challenge in the Listed Feilden Stakes, an ideal opportunity to assess his potential as a Derby contender. Wareeth, a son of Sea The Stars, will be taking a significant step up in class after his impressive 14-length win in a novice race over 1m at Newcastle.
Although he doesn't currently hold a Derby entry, his performance since his debut has been promising. Wareeth will face stiff competition, including Aidan O'Brien's Isaac Newton, who has an edge in experience with a win in his maiden at Goodwood and a fourth-place finish in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud. Isaac Newton holds a Derby entry and boasts an official rating of 106.
Another competitor, Poseidon's Warrior, trained by Godolphin, will also be taking the leap from novice company after winning over the same distance at Goodwood. All three colts are entered in the Group 2 Dante at York next month, a traditional Derby trial. Hollie Doyle will also ride ZOULU CHIEF in the Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap, expecting a strong performance from the sprinter. ZOULU CHIEF has been active on the All-Weather circuit over the winter, achieving a win at Wolverhampton and a good battle against Completely Random at Lingfield Park.
As a five-year-old approaching his prime, he is a few pounds higher than his best winning performance at York in 2023 but appears to be a 90 horse. Hollie has also ridden work on Jane Chapple-Hyam's outsider HARLEQUIN BREEZE and believes she is worth her place in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes. Despite being a maiden after three starts, Harlequin Breeze has shown improvement with every run and impressed Hollie with her determination over course and distance.
IMPOSSIBLE MISSION will need to prove himself on turf, receiving weight from all his rivals in the National Stud Handicap. John Butler's three-year-old made a winning handicap debut under Neil Callan at Wolverhampton and should have improved since his reappearance. LADY FIZZ, a debutant, will face fillies from prominent yards over 1m, which may be a minimum trip for her, being out of a 10f winning daughter of Golden Horn.
Hollie is looking forward to riding Marco Botti's Shergar Cup winner PRINCE OF INDIA in the Zyn Abernant Stakes. It will be her first time riding him on the track, but she was impressed when she sat on him on the gallops last year. PRINCE OF INDIA is a powerfully built colt who could be a force in stakes sprints this summer.
The race appears wide-open, but he should be spot on after a creditable comeback in the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes at Wolverhampton. Hollie expects big things from Hawk Mountain this year and will be disappointed if he doesn't make a winning return in the Group 3 Betway Craven Stakes. Aidan O'Brien's son of Wootton Bassett is already a Group 1 winner and can strengthen his Derby claims.
Another favorite of Hollie's is Karl Burke's Boiling Point, who returns to turf in the Group 3 Betway Earl Of Sefton Stakes. The Cambridgeshire winner probably needed the outing in a steadily run Winter Derby, but with that run under his belt, he can establish himself as a genuine Pattern performer this season.
