Mercedes Working to Improve Race Starts Ahead of Miami Grand Prix

George Russell reveals that Mercedes is diligently working to enhance their race starts, a crucial area for improvement, as the Formula 1 season resumes in Miami. Despite achieving four front row lockouts in the initial three Grands Prix and Sprint, neither Russell nor his teammate has managed to lead after the first lap. The team's inability to secure strong starts is a significant weakness, but they have demonstrated sufficient pace to recover and win the first three races. Ferrari has excelled in starts this season, thanks to their compact turbo, which enables quicker spin-up times and easier acceleration from the starting line. Russell emphasized that while opportunities to practice starts are limited, the team is focusing on analyzing data to address this flaw. In an interview during Pirelli tire testing in Germany, Russell stated that extensive work is being done 'behind the scenes' to rectify this issue, including simulator days and analysis of the first three races to prepare for the upcoming events.
