The recent announcement that Gianpiero 'GP' Lambiase, Max Verstappen's engineer and the team's head of racing, will join McLaren in 2028, marks the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the former world champion team since the end of 2023. Lambiase will follow former colleagues Rob Marshall and Will Courtenay to McLaren, while Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley have also defected to rival teams. The exodus includes the departure of Christian Horner as team principal after 20 years and Helmut Marko leaving his long-standing advisor role. The Sky Sports F1 panel discussed the challenges facing Red Bull, who are struggling in the new era of the sport, currently sitting sixth in the Constructors' Championship with just 16 points after three races. Commentator David Croft noted that the team's current performance does not suggest they will be winning soon, which could impact motivation. "They've lost a lot of staff now, and not just the headline staff, but people underneath as well," Croft said. "It's not people deserting a sinking ship, but it's people thinking that their success in their careers can lie elsewhere outside of Milton Keynes."
