Hull FC's outgoing coach, John Cartwright, expressed his desire to continue in his role until the end of the season despite the club's decision not to renew his contract. This statement came ahead of their Betfred Super League loss to St Helens. The club announced last week that Cartwright's contract would not be extended, which reportedly caught the 60-year-old Australian off guard. Cartwright confessed to feeling 'betrayed and disrespected' amid rumors that Hull FC is planning to replace him with former England and Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara. Despite his side's 24-14 Super League loss to St Helens, Cartwright received cheers from Hull's home fans, with supporters chanting his name towards the end of the match. In an interview with Sky Sports before the match, Cartwright mentioned that he had not been given a clear reason for his dismissal but expressed his wish to see out the season. When asked if he expected the St Helens match to be his last in charge, Cartwright replied, 'Not at the moment, not as I stand here.' He added, 'I love the group of guys here.
