DeChambeau Eager for McIlroy Rivalry at The Masters

Bryson DeChambeau is looking forward to competing against Rory McIlroy at The Masters, after gaining valuable experience from last year's final-round disappointment. DeChambeau, one of the favorites to win a third major title at Augusta National, has posted top-six finishes in the past two years and arrives with back-to-back LIV Golf League victories. The two-time US Open champion had briefly led during the final round last year, but ended up tied for fifth place after a three-over 75, as McIlroy claimed victory to complete the career Grand Slam. DeChambeau previously stated that McIlroy did not speak to him during their final-round duel, but McIlroy has since denied this claim. DeChambeau expressed his enthusiasm for a rivalry with McIlroy, saying it would create 'buzz' around the game of golf. He added that he respects McIlroy as an individual but wants to beat him every time they compete. DeChambeau reflected on last year's loss as a 'great learning lesson' and is determined to put himself in a position to win again. He believes his game is in the best place it has been, outside of his record-breaking 58 at the Greenbrier LIV Golf League event. Former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley thinks DeChambeau 'helped' McIlroy win the Grand Slam last year by motivating him with his comments before their final-round matchup.
