Southampton Extend Unbeaten Run with 2-1 Victory Over Derby

Southampton continued their ascent up the Championship table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over fellow play-off contenders Derby at St Mary's. The Saints came from behind to secure the victory, with second-half goals from Leo Scienza and Taylor Harwood-Bellis cancelling out Carlton Morris' earlier strike, thereby extending their unbeaten run to 17 games. The hosts began the match with a high level of intensity, as Scienza made a run down the left flank and pulled the ball back for Tom Fellows, whose heavy first touch prevented him from getting a shot away. Moments later, the Saints got the goal they deserved when Scienza finished off a flowing move by curling into the far corner after Jander and Azaz had created the opening. The Saints then took the lead when Harwood-Bellis connected perfectly with another Manning free-kick to head beyond O'Donnell. Derby's manager, John Eustace, quickly made changes in an attempt to find a way back into the game, but the Saints remained resolute and secured a vital victory to extend their unbeaten run.
