Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has reached her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, initially broke Ruse's serve in the opening game but then faced consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and taking the set 6-4 after breaking her opponent again. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, and secured a 6-4, 6-1 victory after an hour and 27 minutes. Her opponent in the final will be Anastasia Potapova, who defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead and, despite Vekic's comeback, held on to win the first set. She then built a 4-0 lead in the second set, ultimately winning her first match against Vekic in their last three encounters. This will be Potapova's first final since her debut win three years ago. Notably, Potapova will be the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since its addition to the Tour calendar in 1991, having previously represented Russia until December 2025. The upcoming final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with Andreeva having won their last two match-ups, although they have not yet played each other on clay.
