Kent Trails Northamptonshire as Zak Crawley Struggles to Find Form
Northamptonshire set a record total of 684 for two declared at Canterbury, with Ricardo Vasconcelos, Luke Procter, and Calvin Harrison all scoring centuries on the opening day. Procter went on to achieve his maiden double ton, finishing unbeaten on 261. In response, Kent lost Ben Compton and Sam Northeast cheaply, with Zak Crawley under pressure to perform after a disappointing Ashes series. Crawley made 26 but was dismissed by Harry Conway, leaving Kent on 119 for six at the close of play. Elsewhere, Ben Duckett was run out for one as Nottinghamshire took control against Glamorgan, while Ben McKinney boosted his chances of displacing Crawley or Duckett with a score of 244 for Durham against Gloucestershire. Other notable performances included Craig Overton's career-best 141 for Somerset and Rishi Patel's unbeaten 133 for Leicestershire.
