English Women's Six Nations Team Faces Dual Injury Setback
A significant blow has been dealt to England's Women's Six Nations campaign, as Morwenna Talling and Natasha Hunt have been sidelined due to injury. The pair sustained leg injuries during the second half of England's 33-12 victory over Ireland, which drew a record-breaking crowd of 77,120 at Allianz Stadium on Saturday. Talling, a lock, was forced off the field after just 43 minutes, while Hunt, a replacement scrum-half, lasted only 13 minutes before being substituted due to injury. This latest development sees Talling become the most recent second-row player to be ruled out of the tournament, following the withdrawal of Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, and Rosie Galligan due to pregnancy. In response to the loss, England head coach John Mitchell stated: "With four international locks now out, we may end up relying heavily on our back-rowers by the end of the competition. However, there are various ways to approach the game, and if needed, we will adapt and make it work." Talling and Hunt will remain with the England squad to consult specialists before commencing their rehabilitation at their respective clubs, Sale and Gloucester-Hartpury. In other news, Jones has been named captain of the English Women's Six Nations team.
