Goldinthesea Aims for a Winning Debut at Southwell

Wednesday evening promises to be an exciting one with competitive racing at Southwell, broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing. The Come Racing For Free 18th June Novice Stakes is set to be a thrilling encounter, featuring three unexposed colts. Goldinthesea, having recently switched from Joseph O'Brien's yard to Ed Bethell's, is an intriguing runner after impressing at Dundalk in January. His form has been enhanced with the third-place finisher going on to win, and as the son of No Nay Never, he could have a promising future with his new connections. Penny Time is another exciting contender, trained by Hugo Plamer, who bolted up at Southwell last month and will attempt to secure his third win in three starts. Owen Burrows' Sassicaia has only been seen on the track once, when winning at Wolverhampton in December, and like the other two, remains an unknown quantity with potential for growth. Debutant Shadow Boxer, representing Victorious Forever, cost €520,000, and the market will provide more insight into this colt. Another competitive race this evening is the Ladies Day Sunday 16th August Fillies' Handicap, where three last-time-out winners clash. Cool Molly, up three pounds after winning the All-Weather Vase Fillies' Handicap at Lingfield 12 days ago, has to be respected. Vencedora, carrying the famous Sheikh Mohammed Obaid colours, has a different profile, being lightly raced and unexposed for Karl Burke, having her first run of the season after winning for the first time in a three-runner race at Newmarket in September. Rogue Citation represents The Rogues Gallery and comes with a similar profile to Vencedora, having only run twice, with her only win coming last time out here in October. It will be interesting to see how they have wintered and whether they can compete against the race-fit filly Cool Molly. The finale this evening features Seven Fires attempting to complete a hat-trick on just her fifth career start in the Summer Socials At Southwell Racecourse Fillies' Handicap. Her two wins came at Newcastle, showcasing her versatility, and she steps back up to six furlongs today, making her tough to beat. Top-rated Barefoot Beach has only run twice and bids to bounce back to winning ways after a close second at Kempton last time out. Zighy got off the mark when last seen and George Boughey's filly could yet prove better still, having not been out of the top three in all five of her starts.
