Mercedes Intensifies Efforts to Enhance Race Starts

George Russell reveals that Mercedes is diligently working to improve their race starts, a weakness the team aims to address ahead of the Miami Grand Prix in May. Despite achieving four front-row lockouts in the first three Grands Prix and Sprint, neither Russell nor his teammate has managed to lead after the opening lap. The team's inability to start strongly has been a significant drawback, but they have shown resilience in fighting back to win the initial three races. Ferrari, meanwhile, has excelled in starts due to their turbo's quick spin-up time, allowing them to find the ideal launch window. With limited opportunities to practice starts, Russell emphasizes that the team is focusing on data analysis to rectify their flaw. Speaking at the Nürburgring during Pirelli tire testing, Russell underscored the extensive work being done behind the scenes, including simulator days and data analysis from the first three races, to prepare for the upcoming sprint races in Miami and Montreal.
