Sinner and Alcaraz Advance to Quarterfinals at Monte-Carlo Masters

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner ended his 37-set winning streak at the Masters 1000 level but still managed to defeat Tomas Machac 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Sinner had previously won the Sunshine Double without dropping a set and was looking to dethrone current world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. Despite struggling with fatigue, Sinner found a way to win and will face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals. Alcaraz also dropped a set but ultimately prevailed over Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 to continue his title defense. The pressure is on Alcaraz as a strong performance by Sinner could potentially bump him from the top spot. Alcaraz will face Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals, while other winners include Joao Fonseca, Alexander Zverev, and Valentin Vacherot, who made history as the first Monegasque to reach the quarterfinals in the Open Era.
