In a thrilling turn of events, Jodie Burrage and Harriet Dart propelled Great Britain to a 3-0 victory over Australia in their Billie Jean King Cup qualifier, securing a spot in the Finals. The duo dominated their doubles match, defeating Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez 6-3, 6-4. After initially trailing 3-1 in the first set, Burrage and Dart regained their footing, winning five consecutive games following the closure of the roof on John Cain Arena. The pair then traded breaks early in the second set before serving out the match to seal the win. An emotional Burrage, who overcame a snapped tendon in her wrist and a ruptured ankle ligament last year, expressed her pride in the team's performance. The team will compete in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen this September, facing the other six tie winners and host nation China. Captain Anne Keothavong expressed her pride in the team, stating that they are 'due something special' after reaching the semi-finals last year.
