The final standings from the Masters tournament, the first major golf event of the year, are in. Held at the prestigious Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia, the competition saw last year's champion, Rory McIlroy, return to defend his title. McIlroy made history by becoming the first player to achieve the career Grand Slam since Tiger Woods. World No 1, Scottie Scheffler, was favored to win but ultimately fell short.
McIlroy secured his title defense with a one-under 71, finishing just a shot ahead of Scheffler. Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley trailed closely behind. The top 10 also included Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Max Homa, and Xander Schauffele.
This year's Masters was the first of four major golf events, followed by the PGA Championship, the US Open, and the Open. The PGA Tour will now head to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, with Justin Thomas returning as the defending champion. The next major men's golf event, the PGA Championship, will take place from May 14-17 and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
