Manchester United Nears New Deal with Kobbie Mainoo

Manchester United's manager, Michael Carrick, has expressed optimism that the club is close to finalizing a new contract with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. This development comes after Sky Sports News reported in March that both Mainoo and defender Harry Maguire were nearing agreements on new terms, with Maguire's contract having been announced the previous week. Mainoo's current contract, signed in 2023 at the age of 17, is set to expire in the summer of 2027 and includes a significant pay rise. The proposed new deal would be a five-year contract, running until 2031, reflecting Mainoo's growth and status within the team. Carrick stated, "We're getting closer, we're positive with that. We're calm with it, but we're positive, and only time will tell how it will go. But we're in a good place with him." This potential agreement marks a substantial turnaround for Mainoo, who was not part of previous head coach Ruben Amorim's plans. Since Carrick took over, Mainoo has featured in every Premier League match and has become a key player, also earning a spot in Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad.
