Rangers Stage Thrilling Comeback to Keep Pressure on Hearts in Scottish Premiership

Rangers mounted an extraordinary comeback at Falkirk, remaining firmly in contention for the Scottish Premiership title with just five games left to play. Despite starting the day in third place following wins by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday, Danny Röhl's team initially found themselves 2-0 down courtesy of goals from Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats. However, Tochi Chukwanui's strike before the break sparked a remarkable turnaround. A blistering start to the second half saw Rangers surge into a 3-2 lead after Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin found the net. Bojan Miovski added a fourth goal, although Falkirk managed to pull one back through Calvin Miller's penalty after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah. Undeterred, Rangers reaffirmed their title aspirations as Miovski and Chermiti both scored again, putting the game beyond Falkirk's reach. This result propels Rangers back into second place, just a point behind leaders Hearts, with Celtic trailing a further two points behind. The last time the top three teams in the Premiership all secured victories on the same weekend was a rare occurrence, and Rangers were determined not to let this record come to an end. Chukwuani's contentious goal just before half-time ignited the incredible comeback, as the home team seemed to pause in anticipation of a goal kick following Raskin's cross. The introduction of Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at the break proved pivotal, with Gassama moved to the left and winning the ball on the edge of the Falkirk box. His low cross was flicked home by Chermiti, who soon squandered a decent opportunity to put his team ahead. Rangers' renewed threat paid off as they took the lead in the 52nd minute, with Raskin running round the outside of Aasgaard and hitting the Norwegian's pass into the far corner. Chermiti missed another chance before Raskin set up Miovski to bundle home with a cross from the left. Falkirk were handed a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller netted from the spot after Tavernier brought down Filip Lissah. Nevertheless, Raskin's involvement continued as Rangers restored their two-goal cushion, bursting forward before Chermiti netted after Gassama's shot was blocked. The Belgian midfielder was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait after earlier escaping yellow cards for a clear pull and embracing Rangers fans after his goal. Miovski sealed the scoring two minutes from time, converting Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. Rangers head coach Danny Röhl reflected on the match, 'Our start was not ideal, but the reaction was outstanding. We focused on our job, and it's much easier to go into this break with a win. The spirit is great, and the connection between our supporters and the team is fantastic. We are one team now, and this is great.' Röhl also looked back on his time at Falkirk, highlighting the club's direction and the importance of continuing to believe in their approach.
