Skelton Overjoyed by Trainers' Championship Win
Dan Skelton expressed his thrill at securing the trainers' title after it became impossible for him to be overtaken. The Alcester-based trainer had seen the title slip away in the final stages of the previous two seasons, but this time he dominated from the start, becoming the first trainer to surpass £4 million in prize money. "It's truly amazing," Skelton said, "we've worked tirelessly over the years to get close, and it's fantastic to have finally achieved it." He praised his team, owners, and horses, saying, "It's a great reflection on everyone's efforts this year. The horses have been outstanding, and I'm grateful to the staff and owners who have supported me throughout." Skelton's success comes after a brilliant Grand National Festival, with his current total standing at £4,762,920 for the season. With Willie Mullins conceding defeat, Skelton can now savor his victory ahead of receiving the trophy at Sandown Park on April 25.
