Women's T20 World Cup Prize Fund Gets 10% Boost

The International Cricket Council has confirmed a significant increase in the total prize fund for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, set to take place in England and Wales this summer. The winners of the tournament will receive $2.34m, with the runners-up taking home $1.17m. Notably, all participating teams are guaranteed a minimum of $247,500, more than double the amount from the previous edition. The growth of women's cricket is evident in the expansion of the tournament to 12 teams and the record-breaking prize pool. The ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta, stated that the increase in prize money reflects the organization's commitment to building a stronger and more competitive global game. The tournament is expected to set new attendance and viewing records, with a lasting impact on the socio-cultural landscape. The prize money for the top two teams remains the same as in 2024, but there was a significant increase from 2023. The total prize pot for the tournament has grown to $8,765m, with the 33-match event to be held across 24 days in seven venues. The tournament director, Beth Barrett-Wild, believes that the event will be a landmark moment for the game, with record-breaking ticket demand and the largest-ever prize pot for a global women's T20 competition.
