Hollie Doyle's Newmarket Preview: Wareeth to Test Derby Credentials

This week, I'm set to ride at Newmarket's Craven meeting, with a key mount on Derby prospect Wareeth in the Listed Feilden Stakes. My boss Archie Watson's exciting colt will face a significant class jump after his impressive 14-length win in a novice race at Newcastle last month. Although Wareeth doesn't currently hold a Derby entry, we've been pleased with his progress since his debut. I had the chance to sit on him last week and felt good, but this second start will reveal more about his potential. Aidan O'Brien's Isaac Newton, who has a Derby entry and an official rating of 106, sets a high standard in the Feilden Stakes. Another contender, Poseidon's Warrior, will also be making the leap from novice company. All three colts are entered in the Group 2 Dante at York next month, a traditional Derby trial. I'm also looking forward to riding ZOULU CHIEF in the Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap, after his lovely run at Newmarket in the autumn. He's been active on the All-Weather over the winter and should deliver another strong performance. I've had the opportunity to ride work on Jane Chapple-Hyam's outsider HARLEQUIN BREEZE, who is worth her place in the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes. Despite being a maiden after three starts, she's shown improvement with every run and impressed me with her determination. IMPOSSIBLE MISSION needs to prove his turf credentials when he receives weight from all his rivals in the National Stud Handicap. Meanwhile, Des Donovan's LADY FIZZ will gain valuable experience in the Molson Coors British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes. On Thursday, I'll be riding Marco Botti's Shergar Cup winner PRINCE OF INDIA in the Zyn Abernant Stakes, a powerfully built colt who could be a force in stakes sprints this summer. I have high expectations for Hawk Mountain, a Group 1 winner, to make a winning return in the Group 3 Betway Craven Stakes. Another favourite of mine, Karl Burke's Boiling Point, returns to turf in the Group 3 Betway Earl Of Sefton Stakes, and with a recent run under his belt, he can establish himself as a genuine Pattern performer this season.
