Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has reached her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, broke Ruse's serve in the opening game but then lost consecutive service games. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the next service game to take the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, securing a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will face Andreeva in the final, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, but Vekic fought back. However, Potapova held on to take the first set and continued her strong performance in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before winning her first match against Vekic in their last three encounters. Notably, Potapova's win marks her return to the final for the first time since her debut title win three years ago, and she becomes the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since 1991, having previously represented Russia until December 2025. The upcoming final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with Andreeva having won their last two matches, although they have not played each other on clay before.
