Usyk Trains Joshua to Overcome Fury: 'AJ is Capable of Winning'

Oleksandr Usyk has pledged to aid Anthony Joshua in his quest to defeat Tyson Fury. Joshua, a former world champion who has lost to Usyk on two occasions, has joined forces with the undefeated, unified heavyweight champion's training team. Usyk has extended a warm welcome to Joshua, stating, 'We assist each other, work together, and share jokes - it's an enjoyable experience. Previously, we were rivals, but now we're friends.' As a two-weight, three-time undisputed world champion who has bested Fury twice, Usyk is well-equipped to offer Joshua advice on how to tackle the former two-time heavyweight champion. 'I believe AJ will emerge victorious against my friend Fury,' Usyk said. Usyk might even be present in Joshua's corner for the highly anticipated Fury bout. Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed to Sky Sports that negotiations for the all-British heavyweight showdown are progressing, with the potential for the fight to take place this year. Hearn expressed confidence in Joshua's abilities, citing the positive impact of training with Usyk. 'The setup is incredible, and being around the best fighter in the sport is a valuable experience,' Hearn said. 'Anthony Joshua is bringing a newfound passion and fire to his career and this fight.' Usyk is currently preparing for his own bout against Rico Verhoeven, a dominant heavyweight kickboxing champion making his debut in top-level boxing, on May 23 in Giza. When asked about his future plans, Usyk remained focused on the upcoming fight, stating, 'For now, my sole focus is on Rico, and then we can discuss future plans.'
