Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has qualified for her second WTA Tour final this year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, initially broke Ruse's serve in the first game but then faced consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, she regained control by breaking Ruse in the eighth game and subsequently took the set 6-4. The world number ten dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games to secure a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will return to the final for the first time since her title win three years ago, having defeated Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead, went 4-1 up, and held on to take the first set despite Vekic's comeback attempt. She continued to dominate in the second set, building a 4-0 lead and eventually achieving her first win over Vekic in their last three encounters. This win makes Potapova the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since its addition to the Tour calendar in 1991, as she previously represented Russia until December 2025. The upcoming final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two match-ups, although they have not yet played each other on clay.
