England Rugby Star Ellie Kildunne Opens Up About Body Dysmorphia Struggle
England rugby player Ellie Kildunne has spoken out about her experiences with body dysmorphia, which began during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown. Kildunne, a key player in England's Rugby World Cup victory, scoring five tries, including a notable solo effort in the final against Canada, has talked about feeling isolated after the high of the World Cup win. She has now shared her story of unhealthy weight loss and the eating disorder she developed during the pandemic, when she was unable to play competitive rugby. Kildunne, who recently released her autobiography 'Game Changer', told the BBC about her struggles with body image and her difficult relationship with food. She stated, 'I could see myself getting smaller, but I was still trying to be even smaller.' Kildunne credits a physio session at her former club Wasps, where lead physiotherapist Emily Ross expressed concern for her well-being, as a turning point in addressing her issues. With Emily's support, Kildunne began to confront her problems and now feels in control. She hopes to use her platform to help others who may be struggling with similar issues, saying, 'I want to show people that no-one's perfect, just because I'm a rugby player for England doesn't make me a superhero.'
