San Siro Stadium in Milan May Host ATP 250 Grass-Court Event Starting 2028

A new ATP 250 tournament is set to take place in Milan, Italy, beginning in 2028, with the iconic San Siro stadium being considered as a potential venue. The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation has acquired the rights to the tournament, which was previously held in Brussels. The event will be held annually in June and is expected to attract top players from around the world. While the San Siro stadium, home to AC Milan and Inter Milan, is a likely candidate to host the tournament, the final decision has not been made yet. The federation's president, Angelo Binaghi, mentioned that the event will likely be held in northern Italy due to climate reasons. This development is part of Italy's growing presence in the tennis world, with the country already hosting the ATP Finals in Turin and the Rome Masters on clay. Additionally, the federation is working on installing a retractable roof at the Foro Italico, which will be ready for the 2028 edition of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia. Binaghi also expressed his ambition to make the Rome tournament a fifth Grand Slam, rivaling the likes of Indian Wells.
