Tom Watson Slams PGA Tour for Allowing LIV Golf Defectors to Return

Golf legend Tom Watson has expressed his disappointment with the PGA Tour's decision to welcome back players who defected to the LIV Golf League. The Tour recently introduced a programme allowing a select group of top performers to return, with Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed taking advantage of the offer. Koepka's reinstatement was contingent on a $5m charitable donation. Watson believes that players who left for LIV Golf should have been banned for life, and that those wishing to return should be required to play on the Korn Ferry Tour for a year to regain their eligibility. The Returning Member Program, created by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, has also been offered to other LIV Golf players, including Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith. Watson feels that the Tour's decision undermines the importance of protecting sponsors and the integrity of the game. Reed, who recently left LIV Golf, is set to return to the PGA Tour after serving a one-year suspension and has stated that he wants to compete against the best players in the world on the PGA Tour.
