Fury Vows to Make Makhmudov an Example

Arslanbek Makhmudov lifted Tyson Fury off the ground in a bear hug during their final press conference on Thursday, but Fury took it lightly and even playfully tickled his opponent before being lifted into the air. Fury is determined to start his journey to becoming a three-time world champion when he faces Makhmudov this weekend. Having come out of a brief retirement, Fury is looking to reclaim a world title for the first time since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. Fury stated, "For the first time in a long time, I'm the one doing the chasing, not being chased." He added, "I'm the best in this division, and I'll prove it repeatedly." Fury aims to target the belts held by Usyk and Fabio Wardley, saying, "Sooner or later, they'll all have to face me. Who else can they fight to make money?" At 37 years old and after a period of inactivity, Fury will have to prove his doubters wrong, including his own father. Fury responded to critics, saying, "They all say my legs are gone, my reactions are slow. Tune in on Saturday night, and you'll find out." He expressed confidence, saying, "I've still got my speed, my reactions, and my skills. I've done over 500 rounds of sparring, and I still have it." Fury warned that he cannot underestimate Makhmudov, saying, "He's a quick starter with 17 knockouts in the first couple of rounds. I've never underestimated anyone, and I won't start with this opponent." Fury's confidence remains unwavering, saying, "I feel sorry for Arslanbek Makhmudov. I'm going to make an example out of him. I'll knock him out, and I'm ready to put on a show."
