Chris Billam-Smith Sets Sights on Jai Opetaia After Joining Zuffa Boxing
Following his recent signing with Zuffa Boxing, Chris Billam-Smith has expressed his desire to face Jai Opetaia, aiming to solidify his position as the best in the world. Billam-Smith, a former WBO cruiserweight world champion, held the title from May 2023 to November 2024 before losing it to Gilberto Ramirez. He rebounded with a win over Brandon Glanton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Opetaia, also a Zuffa fighter, became the inaugural Zuffa world cruiserweight champion last month with a unanimous decision victory over Glanton. Billam-Smith stated that he and Opetaia are two of the biggest names in the cruiserweight division and that a fight between them is inevitable. He cited his new deal with Zuffa as an opportunity to prove himself as the best by beating top opponents like Opetaia. With a multi-fight deal in place, Billam-Smith, who has been out of the ring for over a year, is eager to return to action and is currently in training camp, anticipating a fight announcement soon.
