Maguire to Serve Additional One-Game Suspension for Chelsea Match

Manchester United's Harry Maguire has been handed an additional one-match ban for his misconduct, resulting in his absence from the upcoming Chelsea trip. An independent regulatory commission charged Maguire for his improper behavior towards the fourth official, Matt Donohue, after being red-carded in the match against Bournemouth on March 20. Maguire had reacted to being sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity when he pushed Evanilson, leading to a penalty kick that equalized the score in added time. Having already served a suspension for the red card in the 2-1 defeat to Leeds, Maguire will now miss the Chelsea match due to the additional ban. He admitted to the offense and was fined £30,000. According to the FA's written reasons, Donohue claimed Maguire used insulting language as he left the field, although Maguire maintained he did not insult the official directly. Manchester United will now face Chelsea without both Maguire and Lisandro Martinez, who was also sent off for pulling an opponent's hair during the Leeds match. With limited center-back options, United's manager will have to make some tough decisions to fill the gap left by the suspended players.
